Instagram renews its visual identity with a more modern typographic logo
The Instagram platform has surprised its digital community by introducing an update to its text logo. After a decade of maintaining the same aesthetic, the social network has opted for a more simplified and italicized typography, seeking to project a fresh image aligned with current design trends.
The announcement was made by Adam Mosseri, head of the application, who explained that the main goal is to modernize the brand’s identity without losing the artistic essence and simplicity that have characterized the platform since its inception. According to Mosseri, it was the right time for a visual evolution that would reflect the social network’s maturity.
Mixed reactions among users
The change focuses exclusively on the written name, leaving intact the iconic camera emblem on the purple and orange gradient background that identifies the application on mobile devices. Despite the intention to improve, the reception by internet users has been mixed.
Cleaner and more modern, with references to the original and to the simplicity and art that always made it Instagram.

Through Threads, the social network linked to Meta, Mosseri invited users to express their opinions on the new design. The response was immediate, sparking an intense debate in the digital community:
- Typographic confusion: Some users pointed out reading difficulties, suggesting that the letter «r» resembles a «z», which has led to jokes about whether the name is read as «Instagzam» or «Instaguam».
- Nostalgia: A portion of the audience has received the change with melancholy, describing it as the end of an entire era in the application’s history.
- Acceptance: Other followers have positively valued the commitment to minimalism and readability on high-resolution screens.
This graphic adjustment marks a new chapter for Instagram, which continues to look for ways to evolve its digital presence while maintaining its leadership in the social media environment under the Meta ecosystem.
