Farrell Makes Massive Changes for Lions Clash Against Western Force

British and Irish Lions coach Andy Farrell has made 13 changes to his lineup for the match against Western Force, a decision that seeks to accelerate the adaptation of all his players on their tour of Australia. Only two players, Sione Tuipulotu and Tadhg Beirne, remain in the starting lineup from the match against Argentina for Saturday’s match against Force in Perth. Several players who joined the team late, after participating in the URC and Premiership finals, will make their first appearance of the year. Finn Russell, who won the Premiership final with Bath, will have the opportunity to impress Farrell and solidify his position at number 10. Henry Pollock, 20 years old, has been named at number 8, with a powerful group that includes Irish hooker Dan Sheehan, who has been appointed captain.
Finn Russell will start at fly-half against the Force.
Farrell expressed his desire to evaluate this second group of players at the start of the tour in Perth.

Of course, this relates to how the season ended and where the players are, trying to get people up to speed as quickly as possible.

The match against Force will also serve to gauge the response of Farrell’s team after the coach expressed his frustration with some aspects of their performance against Argentina.

We’ll see on Saturday how we’ve responded. I suppose the lads that are playing this week are lucky in the sense that they understand how we want to improve. They have to take responsibility and grab this opportunity to make sure this team moves forward.
