SANTO DOMINGO. The National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI) held a moving ceremony to honor 23 outstanding educators during the eleventh presentation of the “Medal for Teaching Merit in Physical Education 2024-2025”.
The event, led by the institution’s CEO, Alberto Rodríguez Mella, highlighted the crucial work of teachers in the integral formation of students through sports.
Recognitions and Distinctions
During the gala, two types of recognitions were awarded. Five educators with exemplary careers received the “Maestros de Siempre” distinction. In addition, 18 teachers, representing various educational regions, were awarded the “Medalla al Mérito Magisterial”.
Rodríguez Mella also paid tribute to important figures in the history of INEFI, including former directors such as Danilo Mesa, Jorge Minaya, Esteban Pérez Polanco and Franklin Duval. Likewise, the contribution of Rafael Abreu (Cucho) was recognized, for his impact on the development of physical education in the country.
The commitment and passion of these teachers has been fundamental in sowing values and promoting a healthy life in our schools.
The CEO reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to the continuous training of teachers and the provision of adequate teaching resources.
Manuel Morel, teaching director, praised the management of Rodríguez Mella, highlighting his fulfillment of INEFI’s objectives and his vision to promote school sports.
