Morehead State Honors Phil Simms by Renaming its Stadium

Morehead State University has announced that it will rename its stadium in honor of Phil Simms, former American football player and emblematic figure of the institution. Simms, recognized for his outstanding career, led the New York Giants to victory in Super Bowl XXI. The official dedication ceremony will take place during homecoming weekend, October 18, at the stadium located in Morehead, Kentucky. Simms defended the colors of Morehead State between 1974 and 1978. During his college career, the native of Kentucky accumulated 5,545 yards and 32 touchdowns, being named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year in 1977.

Phil Simms has maintained his loyalty to MSU over the years. He has given MSU his time, talent, and resources since his days as a college athlete. He has visited Morehead during the summers to organize summer camps for young athletes and has encouraged them to consider MSU. He has mentored MSU coaches and players over the years. Most notably, he has organized numerous fundraising events and has personally contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to support the football program. This recognition is very deserved and long overdue.
