Alcaraz Conquers Queen’s Club for the Second Time and Sends a Message to Wimbledon
Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, seeded number one, won his second title at the Queen’s Club, after defeating Czech Jiri Lehecka with scores of 7-5, 6-7 (5), 6-2. This victory is a clear declaration of intent for the defense of his title at Wimbledon.
Alcaraz, who had already triumphed at the Queen’s Club before conquering his first Wimbledon in 2023, extends his winning streak to 18 matches. The match against Lehecka was a tough challenge, where the Czech proved to be an emerging force in world tennis.
In the first set, Alcaraz achieved a crucial break in the score, specifically at 5-5, which allowed him to take the set in 45 minutes.
Lehecka, seeking to become the first Czech tennis player to win the Queen’s Club title since Ivan Lendl in 1990, kept a close game with the five-time Grand Slam champion, taking the second set in a closely contested tiebreak.
However, in the decisive set, Alcaraz took the lead with a 4-1, taking advantage of a slight decrease in Lehecka’s level of play. Finally, Alcaraz broke his opponent’s serve again to secure the victory, celebrating with a shout of joy as Lehecka sent a backhand into the net.
