Julio Rodriguez and the Mariners defeat the Cardinals in a slugfest

Santo Domingo – Dominican outfielder Julio Rodríguez hit a key home run in the Seattle Mariners’ 11-9 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals, in a game filled with long-distance hits.

Rodríguez, along with Will Wilson and Cole Young, contributed to Seattle’s display of power. Venezuelan Leo Rivas became the hero of the game by hitting a two-run single in the ninth inning, securing the victory against reliever Riley O’Brien.

The game remained close until the end, with the Mariners tying the score at 9-9 in the eighth inning thanks to a timely hit by Connor Joe, before definitively taking the lead in the final inning.

Matt Brash earned the win for Seattle, pitching a scoreless eighth inning. Mexican Andrés Muñoz secured the victory with his fifth save of the season.

The Cardinals also showcased their offensive power with several home runs, including two by Nathan Church and back-to-back homers by JJ Wetherholt and Iván Herrera at the start of the game, although they couldn’t hold the lead.

The match was characterized by its fast-paced offensive rhythm, with multiple changes in the score and a dramatic finish that favored Seattle.
