José Soriano Imposes His Dominance: Fourth Victory and Record in the Majors
Santo Domingo, RD. Dominican pitcher José Soriano continues to shine brightly at the start of the 2026 season. He became the first Major League pitcher to reach four victories, leading the Los Angeles Angels to a resounding 9-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.
Soriano (4-0) delivered a masterful performance, working seven innings without allowing any runs. During his outstanding performance, he allowed only two hits, gave up three walks, and struck out 10 batters. The right-hander threw 106 pitches and lowered his ERA to an impressive 0.33, the best mark currently in the Majors.
With this victory, the Dominican pitcher joins a select group, becoming the first Angels starter to win his first four games of a season since Jered Weaver achieved six consecutive wins in 2011.
The Angels’ offense backed their starter early, building a solid 9-0 lead until the eighth inning. Nolan Schanuel led the attack with three RBIs, highlighting a two-run single in the first inning. Mike Trout also had an outstanding performance, scoring three times and hitting a double that drove in runs.
Oswald Peraza also contributed to the offensive with a home run in the fourth inning, extending the team’s lead.
For the Reds, starting pitcher Andrew Abbott took the loss, allowing seven earned runs in just three innings of work. In the bottom of the game, Elly De La Cruz hit a three-run home run, his fifth of the season.
The triumph also represented a collective milestone for the Angels, who hadn’t won a series in Cincinnati since 2007.
The Angels will continue their tour when they visit the New York Yankees, with lefty Yusei Kikuchi scheduled to open the first encounter against Will Warren.
