Seattle Kraken forward Ryan Winterton will take a temporary leave of absence, the team announced this Monday. Winterton will be absent to attend to a family matter, according to the statement, and no further details will be provided. The 22-year-old player has participated in 62 games this season, the most of his career, with personal records in goals (four) and assists (14). In the previous two seasons, he played 19 games with the Kraken. Last month, the Kraken agreed to a two-year extension with Winterton. General Manager Jason Botterill praised Winterton’s constant improvement as a player.
Seattle is four points behind the Nashville Predators for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference, with 13 games remaining. The Kraken have one game in hand on Nashville. He has managed to carve out a place on this team with his speed and solid play on both sides of the field. We are excited to have him under contract through the 2027-28 season.
