The [Los Angeles Kings](/nhl/team/_/name/la/los-angeles-kings) defenseman, Drew Doughty, has been placed on the injured list after taking a hit to his left foot.Coach Jim Hiller reported that Doughty, a mainstay on the Kings’ defense since 2008, will be out week-to-week.Doughty, 35, had to leave the game against Ottawa last Saturday due to the impact of a shot by Tyler Kleven. He missed the Kings’ game in Washington on Monday and will not be available for the next games.Good news is that Doughty’s injury is not related to the left ankle fracture that kept him out of action for the first 47 games of last season, which could facilitate his quick recovery. The two-time Stanley Cup champion has two goals and six assists in 19 games with the Kings this season, in his seventeenth NHL season. The two-time Olympic gold medalist also aspires to a spot with Canada at the February Olympics. In addition, the Kings have called up goaltender Pheonix Copley from their AHL affiliate ahead of their game against San Jose on Thursday night. Los Angeles returns from their two-week road trip to host Boston on Friday.
