Jeeno Thitikul leads the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship with an impressive 68

FRISCO, Texas – Jeeno Thitikul showed great resilience in the first round of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, recovering from an initial double bogey to lead the tournament with a score of 68 strokes, four under par. World number 2, Thitikul, remained firm after the setback on the fifth hole, reminding herself of the importance of patience and the ability to react to mistakes.

Thitikul found a way to do it, taking advantage of the hot and windy conditions on Thursday. Her round included five birdies in six holes, highlighting an impressive 60-foot putt on the 8th hole. The 22-year-old Thai woman, who resides in the Dallas area, needed only 25 putts on the Fields Ranch East course in PGA Frisco, with a total putting distance of 199½ feet. Minjee Lee finished in second place with a score of 69. Haeran Ryu, Rio Takeda, and Somi Lee tied with 70 strokes. Nelly Korda, who played alongside Thitikul, had a round of 72 strokes, while Lydia Ko signed a card of 75. Korda, who suffered a neck injury during the practice round, said that he feels pain when rotating his neck and that it is difficult for him to sleep comfortably. Two-time major winner Minjee Lee, who hasn’t won since 2023, finished the round with two bogeys in the last three holes. Lee made seven birdies in his round.
