Tapia Seeks the Argentina-Spain Finalissima at the Monumental
The president of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), Claudio Tapia, expressed his preference for the next Finalissima between Argentina and Spain to be held at the Monumental Stadium, in Buenos Aires. This statement comes amid speculation about the venue for the match, with the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium as another option. Tapia indicated that, although the Spanish federation shows a certain preference for playing on Iberian territory, his wish is for River Plate’s stadium to be the venue for the match. The Finalissima, which will pit the champions of the European Championship and the Copa América against each other, was initially scheduled for March 27 at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar. However, the situation in the Middle East has generated uncertainty about the possibility of holding the match there.Faced with this situation, Real Madrid’s stadium was presented as an alternative, an option that the Spanish club has stated it is willing to accommodate.
Meanwhile, uncertainty persists regarding the venue for the anticipated duel between Argentina and Spain, with the organizers evaluating various options. The final decision on the venue for the match had to be made within 48 hours, as the match is an important part of the preparation of both teams for future international commitments.
