Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman will miss his second consecutive NASCAR race due to vertigo issues. Justin Allgaier will replace him at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“Alex continues to work closely with the doctors to obtain medical clearance, but is still experiencing some persistent symptoms,” said Jeff Andrews, president and general manager of Hendrick Motorsports. “He has put a lot into the recovery process, and we will support him every step of the way. Our priority remains ensuring that Alex is fully ready before returning to the race car.”
Jeff AndrewsBowman was unable to continue during the March 1 race at Circuit of the Americas in Texas and was replaced mid-race. Anthony Alfredo drove Bowman’s No. 48 Chevrolet at Phoenix Raceway.Allgaier won in NASCAR’s second-tier series in Las Vegas a year ago while driving for JR Motorsports, an affiliate of Hendrick Motorsports. He has 84 Cup starts and competed in the Daytona 500 at the beginning of this season.Bowman has eight career wins in 364 Cup races. He has been driving for Hendrick full-time since the 2018 season and made the playoffs in all but one season.He missed five races in 2022 due to a concussion and three races the following season due to a back fracture. Bowman finished sixth in the Cup standings in 2020, his best result.
