Erik González Takes Over Dominican Shortstop in the World Baseball Classic

Miami – Leones del Escogido infielder Erik González expressed his pride and commitment after being selected to cover the shortstop position for the Dominican Republic Baseball Team in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. The opportunity arises following the injury of the outstanding Jeremy Peña. González received the news directly from the manager of the Dominican team, Albert Pujols.

“When I received the call, I felt very grateful. Albert was my favorite player when I was growing up and now having him as a manager is something incredible. It’s like having a dad there,” the player expressed.
