Lenyn Sosa Returns to the White Sox After Injury

The Chicago White Sox welcomed infielder Lenyn Sosa back on Tuesday, following his two-week absence from the injured list due to a strain in his right hip flexor.

In a corresponding move, the White Sox sent utility player Brooks Baldwin to Triple-A Charlotte.

Sosa, 25 years old, was primarily Chicago’s starting second baseman before going on the injured list on June 4. On Tuesday, against the St. Louis Cardinals, Sosa will play first base, batting seventh in the order.

At the start of the season, Sosa was batting .274 with four home runs and 17 RBIs in 57 games. In a three-game rehab assignment in Charlotte, he went 1-10 with a double and four strikeouts.

Baldwin, 24, was in his second season in the Major Leagues and started at second base, third base, shortstop, and in all three outfield positions this year, through only 47 games. He batted .211 with three home runs and 16 RBIs.

The White Sox also announced that left-handed reliever Fraser Ellard, on the injured list since May 4 but transferred to the 60-day list on June 8 with a left lat strain, would begin an injury rehabilitation assignment in Charlotte.
