Triumphant Reception: Dominican Republic Selection Arrives for the 2026 World Baseball Classic
Santo Domingo, RD – The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, led a moving welcome to the Dominican team that will represent the country in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The event, held on Monday after the delegation’s arrival, was filled with joy and patriotic fervor. The arrival at the hotel was enlivened with typical music by El Prodigio, who infected those present with the rhythm of merengue. The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, through its folkloric ballet, added a touch of color and cultural tradition to the reception.Minister Cruz personally greeted the players, expressing his support for the tournament. The presence of the players generated great enthusiasm, allowing guests and collaborators to share, take photos and enjoy the festive atmosphere. Several players joined the celebration, dancing and sharing with their companions. The hotel lobby was decorated with messages of support such as “The best in the world”, “Dominican pride!” and “Welcome”. The Dominican delegation arrived in the country on a charter flight from Miami, landing at Las Américas International Airport José Francisco Peña Gómez. The team will prepare for the 2026 World Baseball Classic with two preparation games against the Detroit Tigers, before their debut against Nicaragua.“We wanted to hold this reception to tell our stars that we are proud of the team we have and that their country supports them,” expressed Minister Cruz.
