Tarik Skubal Will Participate Limitedly in the 2026 World Baseball Classic

Santo Domingo – Left-handed pitcher Tarik Skubal will have a limited participation with the United States team in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. He is expected to make a single start before returning to spring training with his team in the Major Leagues. The Detroit Tigers’ ace confirmed, after a spring training session, that his only outing in the tournament is scheduled for March 7. This match will be against Great Britain and will be played in Houston during the group stage.

Skubal’s decision seeks to balance the commitment to represent his country with the need to maintain his preparation for the Major League regular season.

The pitcher assured that his training plan will not be affected by his brief participation in the tournament. Skubal also left open the possibility of supporting the American team if it advances to the final, although he ruled out pitching beyond his scheduled start. His presence temporarily strengthens the United States’ pitching staff, but his main focus remains his preparation with Detroit for the 2026 season.
