Estrellas Orientales Reforce Their Bullpen with Franzuá and Vizcaíno
SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS – The Estrellas Orientales have announced the re-signing of experienced relievers Gerónimo Franzúa and Raffi Vizcaíno, according to an official statement from the team.
Both pitchers became free agents on February 15th, due to the labor agreement between the National Federation of Professional Baseball Players (FENAPEPRO) and the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League. This agreement stipulated that for a month, they could only negotiate with the Estrellas, and subsequently, from March 15th, with any other team in the league.
The previous contracts of Franzúa and Vizcaíno had expired, in accordance with what was established in the agreement between FENAPEPRO and the league.Relievers’ Trajectory with the Stars
Gerónimo Franzúa has accumulated four seasons as a pitcher for the Estrellas, showing a record of 6-2 in wins and losses, over 47 appearances and 39.2 innings pitched, with an ERA of 2.95.
In the previous season, Franzuá participated in 8 games, pitching 5.0 innings, without getting a decision. He faced a total of 25 batters.
His debut with the Stars occurred in the 2019-2020 season.
Vizcaíno also debuted with the Estrellas in the same season, adding 6 campaigns with the team. His record is 3-3, with an ERA of 3.68 and a save in 79 games. In the last tournament, he had a record of 1-1, with an ERA of 3.29 in 13.2 innings, facing 53 batters.
Both Franzuá and Vizcaíno work as middle relievers, with Franzuá frequently used against left-handed hitters.
These are the first restricted free agents to secure their continuity with the Stars for next season.
