Luisito Mercedes Academy Announces Independence Tournament

SANTO DOMINGO – The Luisito Mercedes Sports Academy has officially announced the celebration of its much-anticipated Independence Tournament. This sporting event, which has become a tradition, will bring together teams from various regions of the country in formative categories. The tournament, which will be inaugurated soon, will feature the participation of young athletes in the 7-8, 9-10 and 11-12 age categories. Teams from Cibao, the East region, the South and the hosts of the National District, represented by the players of the organizing academy, will compete for the championship. The event will be dedicated to the Minister of Youth, Carlos Valdez, in recognition of his support for sports.

The organization of the event is 85% advanced.

Sports leader Luisito Mercedes reported that the tournament organization is in an advanced stage. In addition, he highlighted that the provincial delegations are already carrying out preparation matches to arrive in optimal conditions for the opening day and the matches scheduled for the weekend. The games will be played on the grounds of the Naco League, in the plays of Jardines del Norte and in other stadiums in the capital and the interior of the country. During the tournament, entrepreneurs and officials who have supported the national sport will be recognized. The most outstanding athletes will be awarded medals and trophies. Mercedes expressed her gratitude to the collaborating companies and highlighted the importance of celebrating this event in the Month of the Homeland, promoting healthy competition and the development of minor league baseball in the Dominican Republic.
