Shohei Ohtani Wakes Up with a Double Home Run against the Giants

Shohei Ohtani demonstrated his power by hitting two home runs against the San Francisco Giants this Saturday night, ending his longest home run drought since joining the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ohtani started the game with his 24th home run, sending the ball 419 feet away from Landen Roupp’s pitch, with an exit velocity of 110.3 mph.

The star hitter had been in a 10-game home run drought since June 2nd, batting 10-40 in that period, although he still maintained an eight-game hitting streak during his lack of power.

In the sixth inning, Ohtani hit his second home run, the 25th of the season, sending a Tristan Beck curveball into the right field stands. With this achievement, he placed himself one home run away from Aaron Judge of the Yankees and Cal Raleigh of Seattle at the top of the league.

Dodgers fans gave him a standing ovation when Ohtani hit his third multi-home run game of the season and the 22nd of his career.

Ohtani reached base four times and scored three runs in his first four at-bats, receiving two walks in addition to his two home runs.

The last time Ohtani went 10 straight games without hitting a home run was in 2023, in the last 10 games of his six-year stint with the Los Angeles Angels.

Ohtani had slightly decreased his performance in the last two weeks after being named National League Player of the Month in May, where he accumulated 15 home runs and 28 RBIs.
