Santo Domingo – French forward Karim Benzema is involved in a crucial transfer in world football by joining Al-Hilal, current leader of the Saudi Pro League, after his time at Al Ittihad, as announced by the club this Monday.
The agreement with the Riyadh team extends until June 2027, with a one-and-a-half-year contract. This happens after Benzema ended his relationship with Al Ittihad, where an agreement for his renewal was not reached.
Benzema, winner of the Ballon d’Or in 2022, arrived in Saudi Arabia in 2023 from Real Madrid. His time at Al Ittihad lasted two and a half seasons in Jeddah, where he participated in 83 matches, scoring 54 goals and providing 17 assists. During his time at the club, he won the league title and the national cup in the 2024–25 season.
In his new team, Benzema will join a star-studded squad, strengthening Al-Hilal’s attack under the technical direction of Italian Simone Inzaghi and sharing a locker room with figures like Théo Hernandez, Kalidou Koulibaly, Darwin Núñez, and Malcom.
This signing, which materializes in the winter market of the Saudi league, is a strategic move in the fight for the domestic title, where Al-Hilal seeks to consolidate its leadership position.
The French footballer, a benchmark in European football and former Real Madrid player, continues his professional career in the elite of Arab football, adding a new chapter to his successful career at club and international level.
