Escogido and Toros Bolster Their Rosters with Imports for the Final Series
Santo Domingo – The Leones del Escogido and Toros del Este teams reinforced themselves with pitchers for the Final Series of the 2025-2026 championship, dedicated to Juan Marichal and in option for the Banreservas Cup, during the Imported Draft held this Tuesday.
The Leones del Escogido selected Matt Foster and Luis Fernando Miranda, while the Toros del Este opted for Nabil Crismatt and Odrisamer Despaigne.
All the selected players belonged to the Águilas Cibaeñas during the recent Round Robin, now reinforcing the teams that advanced to the final of the tournament.Performance of Selected Pitchers
Matt Foster, right-handed reliever, had an outstanding performance in the semifinal series. He recorded an ERA of 3.00, a WHIP of 1.00, and an opponents’ batting average of .182. In three innings pitched, he allowed two hits, one earned run, walked one batter, struck out one batter, and earned two saves.
Luis Fernando Miranda, also a right-handed pitcher, demonstrated great command by closing the Round Robin with an effectiveness of 1.50 and a WHIP of 0.33. In six innings, he allowed only two hits, one earned run, did not concede walks, and struck out seven rivals, which will strengthen the Lions’ starting rotation.
The Toros del Este selected Nabil Crismatt, who was registered by the Águilas but did not see action in the semifinal, and Odrisamer Despaigne, who did pitch in the Round Robin. Despaigne had an ERA of 3.18 and a WHIP of 0.88. He worked 5.2 innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs, conceding one walk and striking out three batters.
The Imported Draft was moderated by LIDOM’s technical director, Jorge Torres, and included the participation of Carlos Peña, general manager of the Leones del Escogido, and Jesús Mejía, general manager of the Toros del Este.
In the list of available players, ten players were listed, eight from the Águilas Cibaeñas and two from the Gigantes del Cibao.
