Lewis Hamilton and the British Prime Minister Unite for Education Reform
The renowned Formula 1 driver, Lewis Hamilton, seven-time world champion, has joined forces with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir Keir Starmer, to address educational reform. This initiative is part of Hamilton’s charitable foundation, Mission 44. Mission 44, established in 2021, aims to build a more inclusive future for young people globally, with a particular focus on school education and STEM subjects. Hamilton met with the Prime Minister and the Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, at 10 Downing Street. The discussion focused on how to implement Mission 44’s vision in government policies. As a result of this meeting, the British government confirmed its commitment to develop a framework to increase student participation.Hamilton expressed his gratitude for the government’s commitment to collaborate with Mission 44 to generate change in the education system, making it more inclusive. He was proud of the progress of Mission 44 and the opportunity to transform the lives of vulnerable students across the country.Hamilton added that it’s time to transform words into actions. The creation of Mission 44 arose from his own experience, coming from a working-class family and a school education that, according to him, didn’t work for him. He was expelled, but he sees that this situation persists, indicating the need for more work, although he considers this to be just the beginning.I struggled in school and never felt my voice was heard, which is why I know firsthand that ensuring every student feels they belong at school is vital.
