Jackson Jobe, Tigers Pitcher, to Undergo Surgery
Detroit Tigers’ young right-handed pitcher Jackson Jobe will require elbow surgery due to an ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury, according to American League Central leaders on Wednesday.
Jobe, considered one of the most promising prospects in baseball at the start of the season, had a record of 4-1 and an ERA of 4.22 in 10 starts this year. He accumulated 39 strikeouts and 27 walks in 49 innings.
The pitcher felt discomfort in his elbow during an opening against the San Francisco Giants on May 28 and has not participated in any game since then.
Jobe was selected in the third overall position in the 2021 amateur draft by the Tigers, coming from high school. He debuted in the Major Leagues at the end of last season, during the Tigers’ fight for the playoffs, where he pitched four scoreless innings, allowing only one hit in two relief appearances.
