Czech Republic announces its ice hockey team for the Winter Olympics

Prague – The Czech Republic has revealed its selection for the ice hockey tournament at the Cortina Milan Winter Olympics. The Czech team will have three NHL goalies.

  • Karel Vejmelka (Utah Mammoth)
  • Dan Vladar (Philadelphia Flyers)
Among the selected NHL players are Martin Necas (Colorado Avalanche), David Pastrnak (Boston Bruins), and Tomas Hertl (Vegas Golden Knights). The team, which includes 12 NHL players, will not have Filip Chytil (Vancouver Canucks), who has not yet recovered from a concussion. Other notable forwards in the call-up are Pavel Zacha, Ondrej Palat (New Jersey Devils) and Radek Faksa (Dallas Stars). The Czech defense in the NHL will be represented by Radko Gudas (Anaheim) and Filip Hronek (Vancouver). A total of nineteen players from the current squad were part of the team that won the world championship two years ago in Prague. The Czech Republic’s debut in the Olympic tournament will be against Canada on February 12. France and Switzerland are also part of Group A.
