SummerSlam: Cody Rhodes Dethrones John Cena in a Night of Surprises
The second night of SummerSlam, a highlight event on the wrestling calendar, witnessed the most recent stop on John Cena’s farewell tour. At the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, Cena put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Cody Rhodes, a former title holder.
After an intense “street fight” that kept the fans on the edge of their seats, Rhodes managed to snatch the title from the legend Cena. The excitement didn’t end there, as Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE, stunning the audience with a devastating F-5 on Cena.
The night was filled with exciting title defenses. Naomi managed to retain her championship in the opening match of the card, while Becky Lynch also successfully defended her title against Lyra Valkyria.
Later, Solo Sikoa demonstrated his dominance by defeating Jacob Fatu in a steel cage match, retaining the United States Championship. Dominik Mysterio, for his part, retained the Men’s Intercontinental Championship after defeating AJ Styles.
