The training facility planned for the Sparks will be 55,000 square feet and will feature a “player sanctuary” with a pool and nap rooms, two regulation basketball courts, a circular locker room, a gym, and training spaces. The construction of new training facilities adds to the growing investment in the WNBA, with teams like the Las Vegas Aces, the Phoenix Mercury, and the Seattle Storm already having built dedicated training centers in recent years. Other teams, such as the Indiana Fever, the Chicago Sky, the New York Liberty, and the Dallas Wings, have also announced plans to build their own facilities. This investment represents a major step forward for the Sparks, who for a long time were considered laggards in providing resources for their players. The three-time WNBA champion team has played its games at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles and has used various training facilities over the years. The new facility will feature the WNBA’s first indoor-outdoor “player sanctuary,” including an outdoor spa pool, nap rooms, and wellness spaces; two regulation courts; a circular locker room; and a state-of-the-art gym and training spaces.
