Unrivaled Takes Its Semifinals to the Barclays Center

Unrivaled league announced this Friday that its semifinal games will be held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on March 2. This will be the second time this season that the league moves away from its headquarters in Miami. Planning to move the semifinals to New York began after the Unrivaled game series in Philadelphia at the end of January. On January 31st, Unrivaled drew 21,490 fans to the Xfinity Mobile Arena, setting an attendance record for a regular season professional women’s basketball game and for any event in the venue’s history.

The goal of bringing the playoff games to the Barclays Center, which can accommodate about 17,532 fans for basketball, was to capitalize on the “excitement and reception” of the stop in Philadelphia and “continue the momentum” to expand the league’s 3-on-3 presence.

Unrivaled generated $2 million in Philadelphia, according to league officials. More than half of that amount came from ticket sales, along with merchandise sales and sponsorships. The first round of the Unrivaled playoffs, which begins on February 28, will take place at the Sephora Arena in Miami, where the 3-on-3 league has its main headquarters. The four advancing teams will head to Brooklyn for the semifinals, and the championship game will be played again in Florida. The winning team will receive a prize of $600,000.
