Uncasville, Conn. – Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham was ruled out for the remainder of Sunday’s game against the Connecticut Sun due to a right knee injury sustained in the second quarter.

The Sun’s player, Bria Hartley, collided with Cunningham’s knee while trying to get to the basket in the first minutes of the second quarter. Cunningham limped, clutching her right knee, and then lay on the ground, visibly in pain.

The escort was assisted by her teammates for a few minutes on the court before being taken to the locker room, unable to put weight on her right leg.

In her first year with Indiana, after being traded from the Phoenix Mercury, Cunningham has averaged 8.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game, and has started 12 times. Previously, she missed five games earlier this summer due to ankle sprains.

The Fever were already without three point guards: Caitlin Clark, who has been out since mid-July, and Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson, who suffered injuries that ended their season last week.
