Maddy Siegrist Delays Return with the Wings
Dallas Wings forward Maddy Siegrist will have to wait for her return to the court, at least for one more game.
The Wings announced that Siegrist will not play on Friday against the Indiana Fever, a day after reporting that his 17-game absence, due to a right knee fracture, was about to end.
The match between the Wings and the Fever will be played at the American Airlines Center, home of the Dallas Mavericks. This will be the second time the Wings play in this venue.
In the previous game at the AAC, at the end of June, the Wings lost 94-86 to the Fever, in a game where Caitlin Clark was unable to participate due to a groin injury. Clark has already returned, but in this encounter, she will miss her sixth consecutive game due to a recurrence of her groin injury.
Siegrist, who led the NCAA Division I scoring ahead of Clark in 2022-23, during her time at Villanova, was limited to 11 games in her freshman season, hampered by injuries, two years ago.
In the 11 games he has played, Siegrist averages 9.4 points and 5.2 rebounds. His only double-double of the season, with 15 points and 11 rebounds, he achieved in the game prior to his injury, in the 81-65 loss against the Minnesota Lynx on June 8.
