The Belgian power forward, with a height of 1.93 meters, has proven to be a determining factor in the league. In 2022, she averaged 12.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game with the Chicago Sky. Previously, she played seven seasons with the Washington Mystics, where she was key to obtaining the championship in 2019, becoming the first substitute to win the Finals MVP award. Meesseman, who competed in the EuroBasket with Belgium this summer, also considered the Minnesota Lynx and Phoenix Mercury. His impressive international career includes two appointments to the Olympic All-Star Five teams (in Tokyo and Paris), two EuroBasket MVP awards, and three consecutive EuroLeague MVP nominations. With the arrival of Meesseman, the Liberty are looking to become the fourth WNBA franchise, and the second in the last 20 years, to repeat as champions. The team already has renowned figures like Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones, who is expected to return this week after an ankle injury. On Monday, New York also signed Australian forward Stephanie Talbot, who was released by the Golden State Valkyries last week.
