The star of women’s basketball, Paige Bueckers, has passed the concussion protocol and could return to the court with the Dallas Wings. Bueckers, selected as the number one pick in the WNBA draft in April, has been absent from the last three games. The team announced on Saturday that the player has been cleared from the protocol.
Although she has cleared protocol, Bueckers is listed as probable for the Wings’ next matchup against the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday in Dallas, due to an illness.
The player entered the protocol last week, following Dallas’s loss to the Chicago Sky. At that time, she was expected to miss at least two games. Bueckers did not participate in Friday’s game, but was present on the bench for the first time since suffering the concussion.
Bueckers’ return would be great news for Dallas, which currently has the worst record in the league, with only one win in nine games. The team has lost four consecutive games.
The 6-foot guard, and UConn national champion, averages 14.7 points (second on the team), 6.7 assists (fourth in the league), 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals in six games. Her 34 minutes per game are the highest on the team.
