Emma Raducanu, the talented British tennis player, suffered a setback in her preparation for the Roland Garros by losing to Danielle Collins in the Strasbourg Open.
Raducanu, who had been showing a good level on clay, including three victories at the Italian Open and a solid performance at the start of the Strasbourg tournament, was affected by a back injury during the match.
After winning the first set, Raducanu requested medical time in the second set, when she was losing 5-0. Despite completing the match, the 22-year-old player could only win four more games, with Collins taking the victory with scores of 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Collins advanced to the quarterfinals, where she will face Jessica Pegula or Anna Kalinskaya.
The concern now lies in Raducanu’s physical condition ahead of the French Open, which starts on Sunday at Roland Garros, with the first-round draw on Thursday.
