Jessica Pegula Advances to China Open Semifinals

American tennis player Jessica Pegula, seeded number five, became the third representative of the United States to reach the semi-finals of the China Open. Pegula achieved this feat after coming back in a match against her compatriot Emma Navarro this Friday. After losing six set points in the first set, Pegula reacted strongly, dominating the next two sets to secure the victory with a score of 6-7 (2), 6-2, 6-1.

I told myself not to get too frustrated. Stay calm, try to relax a little and not try so hard to execute the game plan. That allowed me to play with more freedom.

In the next round, Pegula will face Linda Noskova, who previously defeated Briton Sonay Kartal with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Noskova, 20, became the youngest Czech player to reach a WTA 1000 tournament semi-final since this format was implemented in 2009. The other semi-final will present an American duel between the defending champion, Coco Gauff, and Amanda Anisimova, seeded number three.
