Lleyton Hewitt and his son Cruz fall in the quarterfinals at the Sydney Challenger

Lleyton Hewitt, a two-time Grand Slam champion, returned to professional competition alongside his son Cruz at the Sydney Challenger tournament, ending in a quarter-final defeat.

Hewitt, former world number 1, who won the US Open in 2001 and Wimbledon in 2002, and who retired from the singles circuit in 2016, partnered with his 16-year-old son Cruz to defeat Hayden Jones and Pavle Marinkov with a score of 6-1 and 6-0 on Wednesday.

However, the father-son team fell to Dane Sweeny and Calum Puttergill in the quarterfinals, with a score of 7-5 and 6-4.

Lleyton Hewitt currently serves as the captain of the Australian Davis Cup team. Cruz Hewitt is one of the three children Lleyton has with his wife, former actress Bec Hewitt.
