Gauff, after her victory in the second round, joined the criticism of Ons Jabeur, who questioned the organizers’ preference for men’s matches in the night sessions. Since the introduction of the night session in 2022, only two out of 34 matches have been women’s. The American tennis player pointed out that women’s matches deserve a place in the night schedule, arguing that they offer high-quality tennis and have great stars that fans would enjoy watching.

“I feel like we produce high-quality tennis and we have great stars on the women’s side that the fans, I’m sure, would love to see,” Gauff stated.
