Fils Withdraws from Roland Garros Due to Injury: Rublev Advances

PARIS – French tennis player Arthur Fils, seeded 14th, withdrew from the French Open this Friday due to an unspecified injury. Fils, who was scheduled to face Andrey Rublev, seeded number 17, in the third round on Saturday, had expressed physical discomfort. During his victory in the second round against Jaume Munar of Spain on Thursday, Fils mentioned feeling pain in his back.

I have some back problems, but that’s since I was young, so I’m used to it.

The 20-year-old tennis player also talked about cramps and other physical problems.

When asked about his physical condition to face Rublev, Fils replied: “I hope so.”

With Fils’ withdrawal, there are no more French tennis players left in the main draw of Roland-Garros.
