Amanda Anisimova Shocks at Wimbledon and Advances to the Final
The American tennis player Amanda Anisimova starred in a remarkable performance at Wimbledon by defeating the world number one, Aryna Sabalenka, with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. This victory secures her a place in the final of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.
Anisimova, seeded number 13, demonstrated her skill and determination on the court. This achievement comes just over a year after the player took a break from tennis due to burnout.
The Wimbledon semi-final was the second of a major tournament for Anisimova, after her participation in Roland Garros in 2019, where she also reached this stage.
In May 2023, Anisimova temporarily stepped away from the circuit, mentioning that she had been “struggling with her mental health” for almost a year.
Now, Anisimova will face Iga Swiatek or Belinda Bencic on Saturday in the final, in search of the title.
For Sabalenka, this defeat means not being able to become the first woman to reach four consecutive Grand Slam finals since Serena Williams a decade ago.
