Lamine Yamal, the young Barcelona prospect, has his sights set on continuing to achieve success. After securing the LaLiga title with an impressive victory over Espanyol, the talented player expressed his ambition to reach greater achievements.

Yamal: “This is just the beginning”

At just 17 years old, Yamal was key in winning the title, scoring a great goal that led to victory. The player highlighted the importance of this achievement, but made it clear that the team has even more ambitious goals.

Barcelona had already won the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup this season, completing a treble under the management of their coach, Hansi Flick.

“Winning LaLiga with Barça is incredible, but this is just the beginning of what we want to achieve. The message for the fans is that this is just starting.”

Yamal, who has already won four trophies with Barcelona, including the 2022-23 LaLiga title, also became a European champion with Spain last summer. Now, the young footballer aspires to conquer the Champions League and the World Cup, the only important titles he still lacks.

His outstanding performances, with 17 goals and 25 assists this season, have drawn comparisons to figures like Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Ronaldinho. However, Yamal prefers to focus on forging his own history.

“I want to be myself, write my own story and be my own player. I don’t look at other players. Of course, I would love to have that level of success, Messi is incredible, for me the best of all time, but I want to have my own career.”

In another interview, Yamal thanked former coach Xavi Hernández, who gave him the opportunity to debut, as well as other young talents such as Pau Cubarsí.

Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, also praised Yamal, highlighting his innate talent and his importance in the club’s project.

Laporta also confirmed that there is an agreement for Hansi Flick to extend his contract as the team’s coach.

The title celebrations extended until Friday morning, with an open-top bus parade scheduled to commemorate the three trophies won this season.

Several players, including Marc Casadó, Dani Olmo, Iñigo Martínez, Pedri and Eric García, joined the celebration in the city, while Ferran Torres, who is hospitalized after an appendectomy, received a visit from his teammates.
