Nuno Espirito Santo: “We have a problem” after West Ham defeat

West Ham United coach Nuno Espirito Santo expressed his concern after his team’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford. The match, which coincided with a protest by fans against the club’s management, left the coach with a clear view of the current situation. Igor Thiago and Mathias Jensen’s goals secured Brentford’s victory, who dominated the match. The West Ham defense showed a worrying performance, and the few fans present expressed their discontent with boos at the end of the match.

“It’s not good enough. Poor,” declared Nuno, adding, “Brentford rightly won the match, they were the better team. I think we are all worried. Our own fans are worried. Worry becomes anxiety, it becomes silence. We have a problem.”

Brentford generated 22 goal attempts against West Ham’s seven. The first goal came after a defensive error that allowed Kevin Schade to assist Thiago. Thiago, who was out with an injury for most of last season, scored another goal that was disallowed by VAR due to an offside position. Brentford sealed the victory in stoppage time with a goal from Jensen.

“Very happy,” said coach Keith Andrews. “I focused on the match really well. I had a good feeling in the last few days, the atmosphere, the energy in the place. I think we put in a very good performance. Ultimately, you want that second goal to be more comfortable, but I felt we controlled it overall. It was the most complete performance of the season, for sure.”
