Emotional Tribute to Diogo Jota Near Anfield

A new mural in tribute to Diogo Jota has been completed near Anfield stadium, by artist John Culshaw.

The mural joins the numerous tributes that fans have dedicated to Jota in the vicinity of Anfield. The artwork captures Jota in a moment of celebration, with his hands forming a heart.

“As Liverpool fans, we know how to deal with tragedy and show our appreciation to someone who has given us so much,” Culshaw commented. “I chose this image because it shows Diogo sending love to the fans and, by immortalizing him in our city, we show that we are returning that love.”

The club announced last week that it would retire the number 20 jersey in honor of Jota in all teams, both men’s and women’s.

The Merseyside club’s first pre-season match against Preston North End was full of tributes to Jota. The next Liverpool match will be against AC Milan in Hong Kong on July 26th.
