Solanke Demands Urgent Improvement at Tottenham After New Defeat
Tottenham Hotspur striker Dominic Solanke has expressed the need for a radical change in the team’s performance, following the 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Thursday. The player emphasized that there are no longer any excuses for the team’s current situation in the Premier League.
Tottenham, one of the richest clubs in Europe and a founding member of the Premier League, is only one point away from the relegation zone and without victories in the domestic league in 2026.

Summer transfer needs for all 20 Premier League teams
“We’ve had an important conversation. We know that the position we’re in is definitely not where we want to be, so we need to figure out how we’re going to get out of it as soon as possible,” Solanke declared to the media.
We know there have been difficulties, but we are no longer in a position to make excuses. We need to do the work on the field. It’s easy to say we want to be better, but we want to be better on the field.

The Spurs’ recent defeat was their fifth consecutive and the third under the direction of the new coach, Igor Tudor, who was tasked with reversing the team’s situation.
After taking the lead, the team suffered the expulsion of Micky van de Ven, which allowed Palace to take control and score three goals in seven minutes before halftime.Ismaïla Sarr scored two goals, one from a penalty, and Jørgen Strand Larsen scored the other for Palace. The match became even more complicated with Van de Ven’s red card.
The Spurs fans left the stadium at halftime, and although Tudor’s team showed some spirit in the second half, the defeat extended the club’s winless streak to 11 games, a new record in the Premier League.
Tudor expressed his disappointment and stated that the team needs to keep working and believing in its possibilities. He also highlighted the importance of choosing the right players to achieve an improvement in performance.
The crisis at Tottenham comes after winning the Europa League last season and advancing to the knockout phase of the Champions League this season, where they will face Atletico Madrid in the round of 16.
The poor form in the league extends from last year, when they finished one place above the relegation zone, their lowest final position in the Premier League era.
The club’s situation is aggravated by the fact that it has had seven coaches in less than seven years. Tottenham has been only one season outside the top English category since 1950 and has been an established member of the Premier League since its inception in 1992.
Deloitte ranked the Spurs in ninth place on its most recent rich list in January, with revenues of $781 million, above clubs such as Chelsea, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus.
