Julián Álvarez: The Atlético de Madrid Hero in Victory Against Rayo Vallecano

In a night full of emotions at the Metropolitano Stadium, Atletico Madrid achieved a valuable 3-2 victory over Rayo Vallecano. The match was marked by a spectacular hat-trick from Julián Álvarez, who was praised by coach Diego Simeone. Álvarez opened the scoring for Atlético in the first half. However, Pep Chavarría, from Rayo, equalized the score with an impressive long-range goal just before halftime. Rayo Vallecano took the lead thanks to Álvaro García, but the night belonged to Álvarez, who scored two more goals, including the winning goal in the 88th minute, thus sealing Atlético’s second victory in LaLiga this season.

“Álvarez is very good, he is the best player we have,” Simeone declared. “We have to take care of him, we have to help him become better. We need to have him here for many years at Atlético de Madrid, he is our player who makes the difference.”

Before this match, Álvarez had only scored one goal so far this season. After being substituted in the previous match against Mallorca, there was speculation about possible discontent from the player, but he himself denied it.

“People say it on social media, but it’s more something from outside than from within. Everything is fine. Those weren’t the words I used. They were other words, foul words. I was angry with myself for how the game had gone. But these things always happen with social media nowadays,” stated Álvarez.

Atlético’s victory changes the atmosphere in the club ahead of Saturday’s derby against Real Madrid, one of the most important matches of the season in LaLiga.

“Pure football. Football is fantastic,” Simeone said. “That’s the wonderful thing about this game. When it seems that everything is lost, faith, work and persistence, give you this joy from time to time.”

Real Madrid, the current LaLiga leader with a nine-point advantage over Atlético, will be a tough opponent.

“It’s a team that has won all six matches,” Simeone commented. “They are in an incredible moment, and they have decisive players all over the field. They have grown in their collective play compared to last season. They are a great opponent.”
