William Saliba, Arsenal’s central defender, has expressed his determination to give his all so that the team can win the Premier League title. After three consecutive seasons finishing in second place, Saliba and the rest of the team are determined to break the streak and take home the trophy. Arsenal has proven to be a consistent title contender under Mikel Arteta, but has yet to convert their improvements into titles. In the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, the team finished in second place, close to Manchester City. Last season they were 10 points behind Liverpool, the league champion.

“We’ve finished second for three years in a row, and we know we’re always missing something. Now it’s a new season, we have to see what we didn’t do well enough to win the league.”

Saliba emphasized the need to surpass what was achieved in the last three seasons to secure the championship. The player also highlighted the importance of the new signings and their positive impact on the team.

Saliba spoke at the PFA Awards in Manchester, where Arsenal managed to get three points in their first match against Ruben Amorim’s United. A Riccardo Calafiori header, following an Altay Bayindir error, secured a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford.

“We have to give it our all and we know we can win every time.”

Saliba was included in the PFA Team of the Year for the third consecutive season, an achievement he shared with teammates Declan Rice and Gabriel Magalhães. The 24-year-old defender has formed a solid defensive partnership with Magalhães, but the main objective is the team’s collective success.

“We just miss the trophies. We play well, we are good, but we miss the trophies, and we have to win trophies with Arsenal to be even better.”
