Richarlison Shines with Brace in Thomas Frank’s Debut
Tottenham Hotspur coach Thomas Frank celebrated Richarlison’s performance after the striker’s brace, which included a spectacular overhead kick, marking a perfect start for the former Brentford coach in North London. Frank took over as Tottenham’s coach in the summer and was close to winning a trophy midweek, but Paris Saint-Germain’s late comeback ensured that the UEFA Super Cup went to the French capital. Richarlison, who struggled with injuries for most of last season, impressed when replacing Dominic Solanke against the Ligue 1 club. His performance earned him a starting position in the attack in Tottenham’s first Premier League match on Saturday, and the Brazilian international rewarded Frank’s confidence with a brace that secured a 3-0 victory. Frank had warned that the newly promoted Burnley would represent a tough test, but Tottenham managed their first league win since April 6th. Richarlison opened the scoring in the 10th minute, and his second goal came in the hour mark. Brennan Johnson added another six minutes later, in a tough return to the top category for Burnley’s coach, Scott Parker, at his former club.
“I think overall it was a good performance, not spectacular. A good performance against a difficult opponent.” “It’s never easy in the Premier League, we know, and after the very short change against PSG.” “Great positive; our medical and performance department did an excellent job to make sure the players were ready to play. I think we had eight starters back, so I’m happy with that.” The Brazilian international Richarlison could have left this summer, but he remains part of the team and Frank is excited to get more consistency from the 28-year-old player.“Perfect start or dream start,” Frank said in a press conference. “We all know we need to follow up on it. Today I will just enjoy it and I hope the players, the club and the fans enjoy it because that is important.”

“It’s fantastic that he’s scoring. The first one is definitely easier to score without being easy, but I have a striker who takes those two opportunities and helps us win the game,” said Frank.
