Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana is determined to continue his career at Old Trafford, despite interest from Monaco, according to sources close to the player. The French club, which is looking to reinforce its goal, contacted Onana’s representatives to find out his situation and possible availability for this summer. Previously, Monaco had also shown interest in David De Gea, former United goalkeeper, before he renewed his contract with Fiorentina. Despite these approaches, Onana is determined to stay at Manchester United, unless coach Ruben Amorim tells him he is not counting on him.

The Cameroonian international is scheduled to return to training at Carrington next month and remain at United for next season. Onana has a contract with the club until 2028, after arriving from Ajax in 2023, under the direction of then-coach Erik ten Hag. His time at United has been marked by ups and downs, including criticism for some errors that cost the team goals. The Manchester United have been linked with other goalkeepers this summer, such as the Argentinian Emi Martínez, from Aston Villa. Martínez would be willing to join United, while Aston Villa could find themselves in the need to listen to offers for their players due to Premier League financial regulations. United is aware of Martinez’s availability, but so far there has been no formal contact with Aston Villa.
