Nottingham Forest Sacks Ange Postecoglou After Only 39 Days
Nottingham Forest has made the decision to dismiss Ange Postecoglou as their head coach, just 39 days after his appointment on September 9th. The news was confirmed minutes after the team’s defeat against Chelsea on Saturday. Postecoglou’s departure marks his time at the club as the second shortest in Premier League history. The record is held by Sam Allardyce, who was in charge of Leeds United for 30 days in 2023. Allardyce was hired on May 3 in an attempt to avoid Leeds’ relegation, but after failing to do so, his contract ended on June 2. Les Reed is third on this list, with 40 days in charge of Charlton in 2006.The Australian coach succeeded Nuno Espírito Santo, who was fired by owner Evangelos Marinakis, after allegedly having differences with Edu, Forest’s global head of football. Postecoglou was sacked after failing to achieve any victories in the eight matches he managed the team. The 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday was Postecoglou’s last game in charge of the team.“Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that, following a series of disappointing results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect,” the Premier League club stated on Saturday.
