Newcastle United is close to finalizing an €80 million (€93.3 million) deal to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, according to sources close to the club. Ekitike’s agent, Ali Barat, is currently in Newcastle finalizing the details of the transfer. If it materializes, the arrival of the French striker would break the club’s signing record, surpassing the 70 million euro investment made for Alexander Isak three summers ago. Personal terms have been agreed with Ekitike for a five-year contract, and the 23-year-old player is ready to undergo medical examinations. The Paris Saint-Germain, Ekitike’s former club, will receive 20% of the transfer fee.

Hugo Ekitike ha sido relacionado con muchos clubes de la Premier League este verano.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is looking for a striker to play alongside Isak and believes that Ekitike will be a great partner for the Swedish striker. This incorporation does not mean that Isak is going to leave the club. Ekitike had a great season in Germany in 2024-25, with 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches across all competitions. He formed an excellent partnership with Omar Marmoush until the latter moved to Manchester City in January. Despite his good performance with the French under-21 team, he has not yet been called up to the senior team by Didier Deschamps. Ekitike hopes that playing in the Premier League and the Champions League with Newcastle will help him get called up.
