Mexico City – Renowned goalkeeper Keylor Navas, after his time at Real Madrid, joins the ranks of Pumas UNAM, a Liga MX team, following a brief stint at Newell’s Old Boys of Argentina. Before making this decision, Navas sought advice from his former Real Madrid teammate, Sergio Ramos, and also consulted with the Costa Rica coach, Miguel Herrera.
The 38-year-old Costa Rican goalkeeper was presented on Thursday in an effort by Pumas to renew their squad and break a 14-year title drought. The agreement with Pumas is for one year, and Newell’s Old Boys will receive 2 million dollars as part of the transfer. Navas and Ramos shared a locker room at Real Madrid for five seasons, winning three Champions League titles. Subsequently, they reunited at Paris Saint-Germain, where they won Ligue 1 in 2022. Sergio Ramos, 39 years old, joined Monterrey at the beginning of this year.I am here eager to give it my all, to push myself, and to be on the court playing at the highest level. I have the mentality to make history, to be able to win a title. I believe we can achieve those goals by working with humility.

Sergio told me a bit about his experience in Mexico. I know that James (Rodríguez) is also here and playing at a high level. The Liga MX is growing and is very competitive, with very good infrastructure, and I thought I would come to a club where we can compete for titles.
