Thomas Müller Reveals Possible Surprise Call-up for the United States National Team
German footballer Thomas Müller may have hinted at a surprise in the call-up for the United States Men’s National Soccer Team (USMNT). After scoring his first goal with the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 3-2 victory over St. Louis City, Müller hinted at the inclusion of his teammate, Tristan Blackmon, in the upcoming USMNT friendlies.Müller, former Bayern Munich player, quickly realized that the official list had not yet been published. “If he plays well today… The match has already been played. In the end, it is what it is, I heard what I heard… Congratulations to Tristan and congratulations to the United States,” he added. Blackmon, 28, was part of the preliminary list for the Gold Cup, but was not included in the final team. The USMNT will face South Korea on September 6 in Harrison, New Jersey, and Japan on September 9 in Columbus, Ohio. In May, it was reported that the coach of the Canadian Men’s National Team, Jesse Marsch, had also held conversations with Blackmon about the possibility of him playing for Canada. Although Blackmon was born and raised in Las Vegas, sources indicated that, if he chose to play for Canada, the Canadian Football Association would be willing to expedite his Canadian passport application. Blackmon has been a key element in the Whitecaps’ defense for the last four seasons, contributing to the team reaching the final of this year’s Concacaf Champions Cup and their current third place in the MLS Western Conference.During the international break, we will miss some players. Tristan is nominated for the United States.
