Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, who grew up as a fan of AC Milan, joins the Italian club after 13 seasons at Real Madrid. The player, whose idol and compatriot Zvonimir Boban played for Milan, will seek to revitalize the team after a disappointing season.
A Childhood Idol and a New Challenge
Modric, winner of the Ballon d’Or, reaches 39 years old with the ambition of propelling Milan to the top of European football. The club, which finished in eighth position in Serie A last season, was left out of European competitions, something that Modric is not willing to tolerate. The footballer, who as a child used to wear Milan’s kit, nostalgically remembers his admiration for the Italian team and for Boban, a reference in his career.“Milan cannot settle for mediocrity. It needs to have the biggest possible goals, win titles, compete with the best teams in the world. And that’s why I’m here.”
